"Three Whales of the Fountain" by Maria Batayola

Maria Batayola (1954); Filipinas, Tagalog. “My homeland is warm, gracious, peaceful. The Sleep comes to me like warm water, sinking into warm water in a blue color. In my Tagalog language the Sleep called “Matulog. I love the smell of lilac. It reminds me of the soft winds that come, bring smell of Sampagita.  Sampagita is the national flower of the Philippines.” It is also one of the three national flowers of Indonesia (Wikipedia.) “If I have a trouble to sleep I breath, I breath, I breath, sink deeply into warm water.” I wrote my own lullaby “Three Whales in the Fountain”:

Three whales in the fountain

Swimming round the sea,

Ariana, Isabelle, Gabriella,

Ariana, Isabelle, Gabriella,

Ariana, Isabelle, Gabriella.
